Installation
Requirements
- Linux, Windows or macOS with Python 3.10 or newer
- Python packages (installed automatically): PyQt6, matplotlib, scapy
- On minimal Linux systems Qt may need the X11/xcb runtime libraries, e.g. on Debian / Ubuntu:
sudo apt install libxcb-cursor0 libxkbcommon-x11-0 libegl1
Install from source
git clone https://aalejandro.ddns.net/ariel/pcap-reportgenerator.git
cd pcap-reportgenerator
python -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate # Windows: .venv\Scripts\activate
pip install -e .
This installs the pcap-report command. Start the GUI with pcap-report, or analyse a file
directly with pcap-report capture.pcap.
Try it
A synthetic sample capture with typical traffic and one example of every detected incident can be
generated with:
python tools/make_sample_pcap.py sample-office.pcap
pcap-report sample-office.pcap
All addresses and names in it are fictional (documentation IP ranges and example.* domains).
Running the tests
pip install -e ".[test]"
QT_QPA_PLATFORM=offscreen pytest
Packages
Ready-made Linux packages (portable archive and .deb) are planned; until then, install from source.
